Heritage volunteers  are members of the Arts Society who give their time to preserve our heritage.

The team from West Wycombe is currently based at County Hall Aylesbury under the helpful eye of Sam Joiner, Collection  Care and Conservation Officer.  Heritage volunteering is always on Mondays during school term times from 10am until 2.30pm, with a break for lunch in the County Hall Restaurant.  Individual involvement is about once a month.

The previous huge task (716 items) of cleaning and wrapping Parish Records in special paper to combat acid  decay has been completed, as has making very many bespoke calico bags to protect ancient and delicate maps.  The project for 2018 is cleaning and wrapping Manorial Court material comprising volumes and some rolls alternated with cleaning solicitors’ papers from High Wycombe.

The 2 projects which are earmarked for 2019 are The Johnson Collection, comprising papers relating to sales and purchases of property, mostly in North Buckinghamshire, including sales particulars, dated 20th century and the Buckinghamshire County Council Collection, dated late 19th century to 20th century.  Both collections require cleaning and the latter, possible wrapping.

The team is  fun and flexible  and new members can be assured of a warm welcome and interesting work.  All that's needed is enthusiasm and a desire to conserve the past for the future.
